3D Chess
A real board. Real wood. A worthy opponent.
About 3D Chess
3D Chess brings a hand-crafted wooden chess set to your browser. Every piece is modeled in 3D and finished with polished ivory and ebony materials on a walnut-and-maple board with engraved coordinates. Orbit the board freely, click a piece to see its legal moves glow on the squares, and watch pieces glide — knights leap, captured pieces topple and fade. The complete rules of chess are enforced: castling, en passant, pawn promotion, checks, checkmate, stalemate, and draw detection. Battle a three-level AI opponent from casual to genuinely challenging, or pass the device for a two-player match. Undo support and captured-piece trays keep the experience friendly for learners and veterans alike.
How to play 3D Chess
- 1Click (or tap) one of your pieces — its legal moves light up on the board.
- 2Green dots are quiet moves, red rings are captures. Click one to move.
- 3Drag anywhere to orbit the camera; scroll or pinch to zoom.
- 4Special rules work as in real chess: castle by moving your king two squares, capture en passant, and choose your piece when a pawn promotes.
- 5Checkmate the enemy king to win. Use Undo if you blunder!
Tips & strategy
- Control the center early — knights and bishops before queen raids.
- Castle within the first ten moves to tuck your king to safety.
- Before every move, check what your opponent's last move threatens.
- Against the Hard AI, trade pieces when ahead in material; avoid trades when behind.
Frequently asked questions
Can I play 3D chess against the computer?
Yes — choose Easy, Medium, or Hard. Easy plays casually, while Hard searches several moves deep and punishes mistakes.
Are all the real chess rules supported?
Yes — castling, en passant, pawn promotion with a choice of piece, check, checkmate, stalemate, the fifty-move rule, and insufficient-material draws.
Can two people play on one device?
Yes — switch to 2 Players mode and take turns. You can orbit the camera around to either side of the board.
